OpenAI has demonstrated repeatedly that, no matter their rhetoric, they will always make choices in terms of short-sighted self-interest, rather than safety. As a result, their AIs have engaged in criminal behavior, yet OpenAI has not yet faced serious consequences for this. Shutting down OpenAI will signal to other AI companies, many of whom are also behaving irresponsibly, that they have a duty to prioritize safety. It will also help signal to foreign powers that we are interested in, and would honor, multilateral treaties to regulate AI."
Not yet, I’m still on the phase of the plan where I plant evidence of miracles to trick people in tech into converting to Catholicism, haven’t even figured out the social engineering I’ll need to impersonate a priest.
